Why use an electric facial cleansing brush?

Electric facial cleansing brushes have been around for a while, but facial cleansing brushes are still trending in the skincare world (and for good reason). There is simply no competition when it comes to exfoliating, polishing and improving complexion.

Here are just a few reasons why a facial brush is the pinnacle of skin care:

1. Provides a deeper and more thorough cleaning than just using your fingers or a washcloth. The bristles penetrate deeper into the surface of the skin, getting rid of dirt, makeup and oils more thoroughly.

2. Your skin renews itself every 28 days and exfoliating with a cleansing brush speeds up this process.

3. Exfoliation tightens the skin, narrowing the appearance of pores over time.

4. Using a facial brush stimulates the surface of your skin, making it brighter and smoother.

5. Your lymphatic system collects cellular waste and delivers it to your blood for removal. Facial brushes stimulate this process and help your skin detoxify.

6. After deep cleansing, the serum and cream are better absorbed. Don't forget to always use SPF.

We debunk 11 myths about electric facial cleansing brushes:

1. "They irritate my skin and cause pimples."

It all depends on knowing your skin type, preparing it for cleaning and using the brush correctly. Whether you prefer a makeup remover wipe, micellar water, or oil cleanser, remove waterproof makeup before using an electric facial cleansing brush. An electric facial cleansing brush does not completely remove waterproof makeup. In fact, it can push makeup deeper into pores, causing breakouts.

Use plenty of detergent and water on the brush head to avoid irritation. A flare-up of acne (in case of acne) after the first use of the cleansing brush is normal. This is called the "adjustment period", "transient acne" or "cleansing of the skin". In general, your cheeks, temples, and chin are the most prone to breakouts.

This is because your skin sheds dead skin cells faster than usual and any underlying bacteria comes to the surface as pimples. You should see improvement within 2-3 weeks. Just stick to your regular routine and your skin will look better than ever.

2. “I have sensitive skin. So I can't use them."

This may not be true. You just have to be careful and make sure you don't cross the line. Use a cleanser that you have already used and know that it is suitable for your skin. Use an electric facial cleansing brush 1-2 times a week and think of it as a facial treatment. Be sure to use a light hand and don't use it on your face for too long. Finer and thinner bristles, such as a silicone brush head, are gentler on the skin and not as powerful.

3. "It just spreads bacteria on my face."

This only happens if you don't clean your brush head properly (which you should do after every use). Rinse it off under warm water and use an unscented liquid soap or facial cleanser to remove dirt and makeup residue. Then massage the bristles with clean fingers clockwise for 1 minute and then counterclockwise, repeat the action. This prevents the accumulation of bacteria that cause inflammation.

Once a week, soak the brush head in a bowl of alcohol for 1 minute (and do not rinse). This will kill any remaining bacteria. Always let your brush head air dry on a clean towel in a well-ventilated area.

4. "I exfoliate too much."

Exfoliating too much can cause red, irritated, dry skin that feels scratchy or tight. Regardless of your skin type, start slowly (1-2 times a week) to see how your skin reacts. Then you can slowly get to the way of use that suits you.

For dry and sensitive skin types, it should be left 1-2 times a week, while for oily skin types, you can use it up to once a day.

5. "They're too expensive."

While cleaning brushes can be expensive, there are plenty of affordable options out there (like ours). Think of it as a long-term investment in your skin—it's priceless.

Consider that you could be spending just as much (or more) visiting a dermatologist, beautician, going to a spa, or treating a skin problem that could have been prevented. Using a cleanser prevents skin problems.

6. “I have acne. So there's no way I can use it."

Electric facial cleansing brushes can actually help treat acne by helping to remove excess oil that contributes to acne breakouts. You just need to choose the right and suitable cleaning agent for it. Anything too harsh can make acne worse. Try using the brush slowly 2-4 times a week and be careful not to make the pimples worse. If worsening, reduce use or take a break.

NB: Be careful with cystic acne, which occurs deep under the skin and is often painful. Brushing can irritate the cysts, causing more irritation and allowing more bacteria to enter the pores.

7. "They're all the same."

There are many brands that have a reputation or claim that their cleaning brush is "the best". But not all brushes are created equal. Find one that suits your skin's specific needs and lifestyle (ie rechargeable or battery-powered). First, the quality varies and this is reflected in the pricing. And some – including ours – are cruelty-free.

Second, different cleaning brushes have different purposes. For example, some increase collagen production to target fine lines and wrinkles, while others aim to reduce the appearance of pores. Waterproof ones are also available.

Third, the brush heads are unique. Some come in sets and for some brushes you have to buy them separately. They can also be interchangeable. They can also rotate in different directions (ie clockwise/counterclockwise). For example, some rotate, some pulsate, and some oscillate a certain number of times per second. They usually have multiple speeds.

Brush heads are made of different materials such as nylon, latex or silicone. They can be natural or synthetic. And depending on their purpose, some are thinner and others are thicker and coarser.

8. "It doesn't matter what cleanser I use on the brush."

For the best results, choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin well. A creamy, foamy or gel consistency works best with a cleansing brush. Do not use a physical or chemical exfoliant when using a cleansing brush (such as an exfoliator with small beads or nuts or a glycolic acid cleanser). This causes too much peeling and can lead to a number of other problems (such as the breakdown of skin tissue). We recommend our facial cleansing foams.

9. "They're not worth the hype."

Needless to say, cleansing brushes have become a staple of many skin care routines because of the noticeable positive results they provide.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it needs to be taken care of. And just think that you can get professional results without going to a dermatologist or beautician, so it's hard to see the negatives.

Electric facial cleansing brushes are also portable and extremely effective, outperforming most other cleansing methods. They come in different colors and sizes, depending on your preference.

10. "They're hard to use."

They may seem intimidating, but they're actually quite easy to use. In fact, they're a lot less work than traditional methods like hands or a washcloth.

Wet your face and brush first and apply the cleanser to the brush. Let the bristles glide over the skin and make gentle circular motions. As a general rule, clean your forehead, nose and chin for 20 seconds and your cheeks for 10 seconds. Do not use for more than 1 minute. You will understand it after a few uses.

11. "My skin type doesn't matter."

This is far from the truth. For example, someone with acne-prone skin has different needs than someone with dry skin. Your skin type will determine which cleanser and brush head to use and how often you should use it. Normal and oily skin types can end up using the brush once a day, while dry and sensitive skin types should stick to 1-2 times a week.
